Local Government Funding

What’s the true value to our local government, of a sick person getting better
A doctors apointment currently costs the NHS £130, same for an MRI scan..
The NHS spends about £2,200 per capita each year.
This extract says it all..

Mental ill health is the single largest cause of disability in the UK, contributing up to
22.8% of the total burden, compared to 15.9% for cancer and 16.2% for
cardiovascular disease.

The wider economic costs of mental illness in England have
been estimated at £105.2 billion each year. This includes direct costs of services,
lost productivity at work and reduced quality of life

Put a case to your local government that 24Days.org will drastically reduce their spending on Physical and Mental health.

Enterprise Bond

There’s an exceptional project here in the UK – The Clink Restaurant.
Started in 2009 at Her Majesty’s Prison High Down, it allows prisoners the chance to become expert chefs and front of house staff. It’s apparently exceptionally difficult to get a table!
The funding was done through an “Enterprise bond”
The Department of Justice was asked what value it would put upon keeping prisoners from re-offending (An easily calculable cost…)
Funders were found to match fund The Department of Justice’s stake. (Not a gift, a social investment with a guaranteed return.)
The enterprise was set up as a Community Interest Company (CIC), they were hoping for a certain percentage reduction of the prisoners returning to prison, and a bonus payment if the percentage went up.
The scheme has been exceptionally successful, rewarding the company running it and the Investors too.
Clearly the DoJ’s costs have come down considerably – everybody wins, especially the prisoners who come out with National Vocational Qualifications, and job offers too!

Crowd Funding

There are many Crowd Funding platforms out there these days.
Two of the best known are Indiegogo and Kickstarter
If you need to find funding fast for your 24Days.org centre, why not open a crowd funding campaign, and get all your friends to help get the project off the ground?

There are exceptional stories about the success of such appeals…

In Atlanta an appeal was started to Restore the (Martin Luther) King Chapel
It raised $5mil !!
Or the $1mil raised to restore Seaside Heights after a Hurricane!

I’m sure you get the idea?

Match Funding

It’s often possible to find private funds or funders who have a social investing programme.
